May 2022 Income Report For Restart Giving

May 2022 Income Report For Restart Giving

The economy is starting to show signs of getting a little choppy. Our eBay sales volume was down a bit, but our income came in at $2224.45 which is a respectable amount. Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on adding more inventory to our store to try and increase sales our overall sales volume and amount.

For the month of May our income breaks down as follows:

  • eBay: $2224.45
  • RIA passive income: $131.42
  • Side Hustles / Flips / Local Marketplace Sales: $350.00

Total Income for May 2022: $2705.87

Looking back over the last few years it’s great to see that our monthly income has really grown. However, to be quite honest, we have lost our focus a little on lending via Kiva.org. We are only engaging with the side about every 4-6 weeks where we mostly recycle existing funds by initiating new loans as the old loans are paid off. Over the last year we have seen more loans start to default. The losses have been minimal and really with the micro-lending environment, some losses are to be expected.

Some Kiva Lending Stats For Restart Giving

To date over the last few years, we have made a total of 337 loans spread across 59 countries! We have given borrowers $8.680 USD in loans and expect to surpass $10,000 in total lending in 2022. We currently have just over $4,100 deployed in loans and have only seen 4 loans default for a total loss of $105. Of course we hope to never lose money on our loans but it isn’t self-fulfilling….the reason we hope to see low loan losses is so that there are more funds available to pass on to the next and the next and the next borrower. The real beauty of Kiva.org micro loans is that we can re-loan the same funds multiple times in different locations around the world. The bottom line, the less we lose the more of an impact we can make.

Residual Income Account

Below is a chart showing our income activity from our RIA account for the month of May 2022.

As of the end of May, the RIA account was valued at $48552.18 but will fluctuate from month to month, especially as it looks like we may be heading for a bear market, or at least some sort of downturn over the next few months, between high inflation, the war in Ukraine and other world wide uncertainties.

Cash forms the foundation to Quarry Bay Capital

As we continue to build our eBay and local market place sales businesses, we’ll continue to add to the RIA account to both increase the core value as well as to increase the monthly passive income payouts.

Updates and Goings On

As mentioned previously our goal over the next few months is to work to build the size of our online eBay store. Currently we have about 400 items listed for sale but have a goal to reach 1000 by the end of 2022.

The future is a bit uncertain right now – with signs of a pending recession we’re not sure if our eBay sales will be adversely affected or will rocket to the moon as people continue to seek out bargains online via commerce sites like eBay, Amazon, ETSY, Mercari and Poshmark. Because of recent changes to the US income tax reporting requirements it appear that the number of online commerce sellers may begin to decrease over the remainder of 2022. In addition, as inflation continues to put pressure on the budgets of middle-America, we suspect more people with give up on lower paying / part time “side hustle” income such as eBay and begin to re-focus on full time employment where ever they can find it.

That should be a win for us and we’ll continue to track our progress moving forward – not only our income streams but how we’re able to give back through Kiva.org and other sources.

As always, thanks for stopping by and Stay Tuned!…..
